On July 5, 1975, Brother Ashe stepped onto Centre Court at Wimbledon to face the heavily favored defending champion, Jimmy Connors.

He won in four sets, 6-1, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, becoming the first black man to win the Wimbledon singles championship.
